His name was David Bullens. He was a Jack-of-all-Trades, and had volunteered to cut down the large oak tree for his friend and pastor. I have heard from both a relative of his from down south and our next door neighbor that David was the sort of guy who got along with anyone, someone whom you felt you’ve known for a long time after just being with him for a few minutes. Here is his obituary: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/battlecreek/obituary.aspx?n=david-l-bullens&pid=152268112
I can also tell you from casual observation that he loved his wife and his wife loved him. She wanted to be close to him. She steadily watched him as he worked. David kept telling her to get out from under the tree, or to back up even further. He cared for her safely. In the end, his wife’s name was the dying word on his lips.
Please continue to keep his family and friends in your prayers at this tragic time.
May God give strength, support and courage to David’s family and friends through this awful tragedy.
